Liv McClymont
Hailing from Ōtautahi Christchurch, Liv McClymont is a rising New Zealand filmmaker whose work is confident, contemporary and rich in tone and colour. Equally at home in gritty social dramas and brightly stylised genre pieces, she combines character-driven storytelling with high-concept theatrical visuals to tackle real-world issues.
Her documentaries "The Man Outside", which follows a stalking victim’s fight with New Zealand’s legal system, and "I Stand for Consent", chronicling students’ campaign for compulsory consent education, showcase her ability to blend intimate, empathetic scenes with crisp cinematic craft. Her work for 2degrees intends to help Kiwis take control of their notifications before their notifications take control of them.
In "The Sender" - a 17-episode, vertical-format teen comedy-thriller - Liv marries satire with social commentary, using sharp humour and a vivid, colour-rich world to explore image-based abuse and digital safety.
With a strong eye for performance, playful mise-en-scène, and a fresh visual voice that resonates with younger audiences, Liv McClymont embodies the next generation of storytellers in both commercial and narrative film.
