Frank Carroll is a director from the UK, now based in Australia — though he refuses, on principle, to tan. His work lurks somewhere between the deadpan and the absurd, built on an obsession with world-building, the idiosyncrasies of human behaviour, and a genuine affection for the awkward, the bizarre, and the people who don't quite fit.

His gift is the category everyone else finds impossible to make interesting. For Envirapest, he turned DIY pest control into a series of absurd, meticulously composed micro-worlds where the logic is broken but somehow still makes sense — an entirely new tone for the category. For Ashley & Martin, he took on hair loss with a cast of sincere, everyday people and their half-arsed band-aid fixes, letting the situations escalate just enough to make the point without ever reaching for the joke. His other clients include Mountain Dew, Kleenheat and The Grout Guy.
