Truth be told, life is kind of absurd — and THUNDERLIPS have built a career out of noticing. The directing duo channel an anarchic sense of humour into work that tickles your brain and then refuses to leave, grounding their strangest ideas in pitch-perfect casting, real performance and practical in-camera effects. The absurd, made completely believable.

Ten years working side by side has given them a near-telepathic shorthand on set — effectively a director in two places at once, which is a spectacular two-for-one deal. Between them they've worked in nearly every department going, on everything from Hollywood features to no-budget shorts, and that love of the whole process shows up in a deep respect for the crews and collaborators they make things with.

Their commercial work spans DoorDash, McDonald's, Meridian, ASB and 2degrees — and in 2026 they took their absurdist instincts to the biggest stage of all, premiering their debut feature Mum, I'm Alien Pregnant at the Sundance Film Festival.
